Obituary for Elmer Richardson "Dick" Powers

Elmer Richardson "Dick"  Powers
POWERS, ELMER "DICK" RICHARDSON, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Clio, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Dick will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dawn Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place on Friday, January 27 at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Isabella County Commission on Aging or MidMichigan Hospice-Woodland Office. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Dick was born February 12, 1940 in Clio, Michigan to Wyman Elmer and Mary Margaret (Richardson) Powers. He graduated from Clio High School in 1958 and also from the General Motors Institute. Dick married Mary Claire Prell on October 20, 1961. He worked as an engineer at Buick and retired after 34 years. Dick enjoyed photography, cars, and computers. He also liked snowmobiles, ham radio, playing cards, storm chasing, his grandkids, and his granddogs. Dick loved to travel the country and also enjoyed watching the boats travel through the Charlevoix waterways. He spent many happy hours at the family cabin at Houghton Lake and was known for his secret special recipe for ham roll-ups.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Susan Powers (Chris Bauerle); son Stephen (Keri) Powers; 3 grandchildren Megan Bauerle, Joshua Bauerle, and Jeremy Powers; and his sister Paula (Tom) McCormick.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wymadene (Harold) Allen.
