Obituary for Alan William Larson

LARSON, ALAN WILLIAM, age 79, of Shepherd, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at MidMichigan Hospital in Midland.

Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill in Mt. Pleasant. A Memorial Mass for Alan will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. A luncheon will immediately follow at the parish hall. The family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Church or to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Alan was born in Pontiac, on August 27, 1942, the son of Alvin and June (Rendshagen) Larson. Following high school graduation, Alan joined the U.S. Army. Upon completing his military services, he began taking business classes at Oakland Community College. He used what he learned in college to start his own business, Mt. Pleasant Radiator, where he serviced the communities’ automotive needs from 1986 until 2019. Alan remained working part time at Mt. Pleasant Radiator and Millbrook Water. Alan married Catherine “Katy” Wood on December 20, 1986, in Mt. Pleasant. He and Katy enjoyed many winters together in Florida. Alan was an active member of the St. Vincent De Paul Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and Mt. Pleasant Eagles Club. Alan was a charismatic man who brought joy to many people. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, he often spent time hunting, fishing, or golfing. His true love was spending time with his wife and children.

Alan is survived by his wife Katy Larson; children Linda Bauer (Dave), Jefferey (Katie) Larson, Greg Larson (Toni); stepchildren Joe (Shelli) Wood, Jeff Wood, Jeremy (Heidi) Wood; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Curtis Grennier; and many nieces and nephews.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents; sister Alvera Grennier; and 3 grandchildren.
