Obituary for Alby Daniel Clendennin Jr.

Alby Daniel Clendennin Jr., age 74 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023 at North Woods Nursing Center-Farwell. Alby was born October 28, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Alby Daniel Clendennin Sr. and Leona Garnet (Schneider) Clendennin. Alby spent thirty-eight years working in the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades as a Commercial Window Glazier before his retirement in 2005. He was a faithful member of Local 357 of Detroit for many years.
Mr. Clendennin had resided in Harrison since 2005, moving from Clawson, Michigan. Alby’s priority in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, being surrounded by nature, listening to Classic Rock and many other genres, watching drag racing and Detroit Tigers baseball. He truly loved people and coaching youth baseball. Alby loved each and every dog he owned throughout his lifetime.
Surviving Mr. Clendennin are his four children: Pastor Paul Lantz and wife Rosangela, Alby Daniel Clendennin III and wife Cathy, April Schmelter and husband Don and Matthew Clendennin and wife Tricia, ten grandchildren: Paul Alfredo, Lucas, Karis, Alby IV, Olivia, Owen, Donald and wife Cala, Gabrielle and husband Ivan, Ashley and Sara, four great-grandchildren: Hazel, Maxwell, Isabelle and Ivan Jr., one brother, David Clendennin and wife Patricia, brother-in-law, Larry Tallmadge, one niece, many nephews and extended family. Mr. Clendennin was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Sharon Clendennin and a sister, Christina Tallmadge.
Private family Celebration of Life services honoring Alby will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory, Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
