Obituary for Alicia Marie Bellmore
Alicia Marie Bellmore (Blue), 46 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, April 11th after an 18 month battle with Lymphoma. Alicia was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Barbara (Pashley) Bellmore, and step-mother in law Cindy (Kirchoff) Bellmore. She is survived by her adoring husband of 22 years, Eric Bellmore and their beautiful daughter Morgan. She is also survived by her brother Jeremy Blue and his partner Carie Bohy and Carrie's son Thomas Bohy, parents Jerry & Mary Ann Blue, brother and sister-in-law Corey and Nikki (Bellmore) Brooker, brother and sister-in-law Duane and Myschell Stangle, brother and sister-in-law Casey and Nancy Stangle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Flint on October 15, 1974 Alicia grew up in Ossineke Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1993 where she and Eric met. Alicia went on to graduate from Central Michigan University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Therapeutic Recreation and worked as both a recreational therapist and later, a case manager for Community Mental Health in Mount Pleasant. Alicia loved the work she did, always giving all that she had as an advocate for her clients. An advocate for mental health, Alicia went out of her way to help people wherever she could.
Alicia and Eric were married August 22nd, 1998 in Mount Pleasant at Lincoln Hill and built a beautiful life together with Morgan who was born in 2003. Alicia always said her favorite job in the world was being Morgan’s mom and she made the most of every moment they had together. Over the years Alicia and Eric “adopted” many college students having Sunday family dinners with them, which she cherished. Always true to her giving nature, “mom” always made enough for the kids to take leftovers home.
Although not a sports fan growing up, Alicia was subjected to so many games and events with Eric that she became a Women’s basketball fanatic by osmosis, following her beloved CMU Chippewas all over the country. Some of her fondest memories included traveling to games and being there to celebrate championships and witnessing history with her extended basketball family.
A fierce fighter, Alicia proudly supported and advocated for equity and inclusion through her actions and the way she lived her life. The first to help anyone who was in need, Alicia led with her heart and seemed to always have the right thing to say and knew when to just listen. An ally and friend to all, she leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and advocacy for all those whose voices are not heard.
In her final moments, Alicia was surrounded by beloved friends and family in her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you treat yourself to a nice glass of bourbon (Alicia’s favorite drink) and that you be a good human. Donations can also be made in her name and we suggest any of these organizations:
• National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum (Morgan’s condition)
• Humane Animal Treatment Society.
• Planned Parenthood
• Restoration House of Isabella County
• Black Lives Matter
A celebration of her life will be held during Memorial Day weekend. The family will spread some of her ashes on the beach where she and Eric first kissed 30 years ago.
