Obituary for Alma Mary Dickerson
DICKERSON, ALMA MARY, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at McLaren Central Michigan.
A Memorial Service for Alma will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sr. Diane Stier officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in Reflections Reception Center. Interment of ashes next to her husband James will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends the day of the service beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 206 W. Maple St., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 or the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, 621 S Adams St., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Alma was born November 20, 1928, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Peter and Frances (Giordano) Mottola. She married James Clark Dickerson on November 19, 1960, in Niagara Falls; Jim preceded her in death on April 12, 2003. Alma was a wonderful wife and mother; she loved her family and spending time with her grandsons. Alma was an amazing, some would say adventurous, cook who enjoyed sharing her creations and recipes with everyone. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts of all kinds, specifically crocheting, knitting, sewing, and painting. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Alma was also a certified master gardener and loved her flowers.
Alma is survived by her daughter Patricia (David) Nisbet of East Lansing; son Jim Dickerson of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons Riley Nisbet of Chicago, Stephen Nisbet of Holt; brothers John (Carm) Mottola of Niagara Falls, Peter (Judy) Mottola of Langton, Ontario; sister Jean (Ken) Hetherington of Niagara Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Betty (Jim) Harps; brothers Guido (Stephanie) Mottola, Julio Mottola, Alfred (Carol) Mottola, Murray (Mary) Mottola; step-brother Joe Piersanti; and step-sister Lucy Couple.
