Obituary for Anthony Gene Smith
SMITH, ANTHONY GENE, age 73, of Weidman, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot.
Graveside Services for Tony will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Richland Township Cemetery in Vestaburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Tony was born February 25, 1948, in Gratiot County, the son of B.P. and Thelma (Johnson) Smith. He graduated from Vestaburg High School with the class of 1966. Tony then joined the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He was a journeyman plumber. Tony had worked for Adams Plumbing and retired from Hitachi Magnetics Corporation in Edmore. Following retirement, he worked maintenance for Park Place Apartments and Beal City Public Schools. Tony enjoyed history, fishing, hunting, camping, and watching NASCAR and sports. He loved spending time with his grandkids and their horses.
Tony is survived by his son Jason (Kacie) Smith of Weidman; daughter Holly (Steve) Olejnik of Caledonia; grandchildren Kelsey, Jackson, Landon, McKenna, Clayton, Graham; and great-granddaughter Lennon.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
