Obituary for Ardene Earl "Art" Romer
ROMER, ARDENE “ART” EARL, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, at his home.
Funeral Services for Art will take place on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bray Road Baptist Church, 9505 N. Bray Road, Clio, MI 48420. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Art was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 3, 1933, the son of Adolph and Florence (Plant) Romer. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He then married Doris Collins in 1958. Doris preceded him in death in 2020. Art retired from AC Spark Plug in Flint after working as a die setter for 31 years. He was a member of Bray Road Baptist Church in Clio and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. Art was an outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He and Doris enjoyed taking walks in the woods. He loved his family, spending time with them and making memories.
Art is survived by his children Rita Romer of Mt. Pleasant, Frank Romer of Clio, Joyce Thompson of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Christopher (Holly) Romer, Allison Green, Jason Roebuck, Garrett Romer, Ann Romer, Todd Thompson, Randy Thompson; great-grandchildren Rosemarie “Minnow” Green and Asher Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents Adolph Romer and Florence Meade; wife Doris Romer; son Joseph Romer; great-grandson Christopher Romer; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers.
