Obituary for Audrey Dee Beutler
Audrey Dee Beutler ,100, of Grand Rapids, MI, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on April 6, 2022. She was born in Rosebush, MI to Andrew and Geneva (First) Willey on June 19, 1921.
Audrey graduated from Clare High School, class of 1940. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during WW II at a tank factory in Detroit, MI. She attended Saginaw Beauty School.
On October 26, 1947, Audrey married James Beutler from Weidman. Jeanette Beutler Johnston was the matchmaker for the union. Audrey and Jim had six children and resided in Weidman, Clare, Freeland, Alpena, Ionia, Rosebush and Mt. Pleasant. Many moves were required as Jim worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation and Stabilization Services. After her youngest child Joel enrolled in school, Audrey worked as an aide and ward clerk at the Isabella Co. Medical Care Facility from 1966 to 1983.
During her retirement Audrey nursed Husband Jim and Mother Geneva. She was always busy caring for others including aunts and uncles, children and grandchildren and friends. She was proud of being a good mother. There was much carpooling, errands, appointments, cooking, cleaning, and babysitting the grands. But she loved it. As an only child, Audrey always wanted activity and many people around her. She spent 20 years as a Florida Keys snowbird.
In 2004 Audrey decided to move to Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids. She spent 18 happy years tending the flower beds and rose garden. She delivered flowers and packages to the residents making many friends through the years.
She was preceded in death by husband, parents, sister Donna, son Kevin and son-in-law Norbert Mengot, in-laws Clyde and Claribel Beutler, along with sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marge (Bob) Tibbetts, Jeanette (Forrest) Johnston, Howard (Marian) Beutler and Carl Beutler and nephew Jim Tibbetts also numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Audrey is sadly missed by her children Jane Mengot, Paula( Tom) Hansen, Jon (Sheila) Beutler, Annie ( Roger Warwick) Beutler, and Joel(Janelle) Beutler, grandchildren: Crista (Mike) Stevens, Roy Hansen, Renee ( Tom) Ross, Mitch (Bonnie) Lewandoski, Brian ( Lindsey) Beutler, Elyse ( Dillon Pringle) Beutler, Roxann (Brandon) Childers, Andrew ( Nicole) Beutler, and Ellis (Brianna) Beutler, great grandchildren: Seth Wyatt, Charlie Wyatt, Camille Hansen, Celeste Hansen, Keghan James, Liam, Connor, and Gavin Ross, Nathan, Bradley and Hailey Beutler, Karlee and Remington Childers also sister-in-law Mary Beutler, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
