Obituary

SHEPARDSON, BETTY LOUISE (LEFEVER), age 88, of Edmore, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Arbor Grove Assisted Living in Alma.

Funeral Services for Betty will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow the luncheon in Vinewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the church and on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Betty was born November 25, 1930, in Lansing, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Peterson) Nobach. After her father passed away when Betty was 9 years old, the family moved to Edmore where she would reside for the next 80 years. She graduated from Edmore High School with the Class of 1948. She married Charles “Bud” LeFever on July 2, 1948. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his death on December 4, 1985. Together, Bud and Betty owned and operated the Chat and Chew Restaurant in Edmore in the 1970’s. She married Donald “Duane” Shepardson on August 29, 1992 in Edmore. Betty was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church, always volunteering her time and food for any event. She and Duane spent many Mondays playing euchre at the Curtis Building with fellow senior citizens. They also drove the senior transportation van for many years. Betty was proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She liked to fish, camp, and in later years she and Duane traveled 61 trips through Hartzler Bus Tours. Betty was also a member of the Edmore VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty is survived by her husband Duane Shepardson of Edmore; sons Charles “Larry” (Kathy) LeFever of Six Lakes, Dan (Debbie) LeFever of Stanton; daughter Louise (Mark) Taylor of Crystal; step-children Eddie (Jane) Shepardson of Alma, Norman (Susan) Shepardson of West Branch, Diann (Mike) Richards of Nashville; 6 grandchildren Heather (Chad) Tubbs, Josh (Tracee) LeFever, Sarah Graham, Tony (Jen) LeFever, Jill Evans, and Holly Graham; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Ed (Jackie) Nobach of MN, Jerry Hansen of Edmore; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud; stepson Rudy Shepardson; brothers Bill Nobach and Harold Hansen; and sister Joyce Mascho.
