Obituary for Bonnie Ann Faber-Unwin

It is with great sadness that the family of Bonnie Ann Faber-Unwin announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the age of 75.

Bonnie was born January 30, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Gerald and Veronica (Little) Faber. She graduated from Beal City High School with the class of 1964. After graduation she entered Marywood Convent and then attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Central Michigan University. She was an elementary teacher for almost 40 years. She was devoted to her faith and her students, committed to recognize that student that was struggling, felt left out, or just needed someone to care. She gave them the attention and love they needed to learn, feel good about themselves and succeed along with all of her students. Bonnie will always be remembered for her bright smile, her gentle demeanor and her kindness to everyone she encountered. On August 3, 1987 she married Jim Unwin in Saugatuck, Michigan. They shared a loving life and enjoyed many adventures together until his death on March 15, 2013. As Bonnie would say, “I’ve been blessed. I have had the best of both worlds. I was a Dominican Sister for 25 years and loved my religious life and teaching. Then I found my friend and life partner, my husband, Jim, and was happily married for 25 years.”

A Memorial Mass for Bonnie will take place Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Thomas Held officiating. The family will be there at 12 p.m. for friends who wish to share memories and join the family at mass starting at 1:00 p.m. Due to Covid precautions friends are also invited to attend the services via a live broadcast on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. by visiting the webcasting link at Bonnie’s Book of Memories at www.clarkfuneralchapel.com or www.facebook.com/clarkfuneralchapel In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph The Worker Catholic School.
