HENK, BRIAN A., age 60, formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant after a brief illness.

Brian was born on September 11, 1958, in Detroit, the son of Leonard and Shirley (Prisby) Henk, who preceded him in death. Brian worked in many advanced computer applications for large companies including, Honeywell, GM, EDS, and HP. But Brian was much more than a computer geek, as his numerous friends will agree. His wit, humor, sarcasm, and compassion were legendary.

Brian is survived by brothers, Leonard A. (Carol) Henk and Dr. Gregory J. (Christine) Henk; nephews and niece, Dr. Brian Patrick (Bessie) Henk and their daughter Brooklyn, Erin (Ben) Bode, and Andrew Henk; Mike E. Clark; and loving dog, Mikey J. Fox.

A Memorial Mass for Brian will be celebrated at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 6021 Whittier, Detroit, Mich. 48224 on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.  Following the service,  the celebration of Brian's life will continue at a luncheon/party. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.

I met Brian in the early '90's when he lived on Campbell Rd. in Royal Oak. I am a singer and was working on some recordings with Mike E. Clark. I found Brian to be intelligent, formidable, and gracious...a true gentleman. They say the good die young and I feel this is the case here. Although circumstances prevent me from being at the memorial, let it be known that I will be there in heart. May God ease the pain of his loved ones in this time of sorrow...Kris Peterson

Brian was truly one of a kind. There are people you meet in this life that leave a mark; when they come into your life you know they are special. Brian brought kindness, humor, reason, and laughter into a world that was in need of his brand of understanding joy. He was very particular about those he adored-and let me tell you, he adored the best..because Brian was the best. When he was your friend he made you feel like family; like you belonged-and that’s such a gift. Brian’s observations of the world were legendary-I hope to half as perceptive as he was about people and the things that mattered. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful soul with the rest of us. Brian I hope you find peace, love, and light. X
