Obituary for Caroline Marie Carey (Oomen)
Caroline Marie Carey 94 of Harrison, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Medilodge of Clare. Caroline was born January 16, 1925 in Slocum, Michigan the daughter of Gerrit William Oomen and Mary (VanAelst) Oomen. Caroline was united in marriage to Mr. Edson Carey Sr.
Mrs. Carey had resided in Harrison since 2017, moving from Reese, Michigan. Caroline was an avid bird watcher, and strategically placed bird feeders around her home, so she could view her beloved birds from any window. She was a staunch fan of the Detroit Tigers, Family Feud gameshow and the Hallmark Channel. Caroline’s family will forever cherish her crocheted heirlooms and her collection of Maude Humphrey porcelain figurines.
Surviving Caroline are her two sons; Edson Carey Jr. (Neal) of Birch Run, Michigan and James Carey (Cheryl) of Fairgrove, Michigan, her loving daughter in law, Jane A. Carey of Harrison, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, her special niece, Pat, plus several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Dale Carey, one sister, Lillian Oomen and two brothers; Francis Oomen and Gerald Oomen.
Funeral services honoring Caroline will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
