Obituary for Charlene Rebecca Merrihew (Watson)
Merrihew, Charlene Rebecca, age 76, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on December 27, 2022 with her family by her side.
Charlene was born on March 13, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Lloyd Newton Watson and Edna Olive (Miller) Watson. She married Donald Merrihew on June 27, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Charlene worked as a special education paraprofessional for Mt. Pleasant Public Schools for 30 years. She enjoyed shopping, attending tractor shows, and spending her winters in Florida. She especially loved caring for her family and spending time with friends. Her loving spirit will certainly be missed.
Charlene is survived by her husband: Don; children: Gregory (Kelly) Merrihew of Mt. Pleasant and Brenda (Andy) Shafley of Alma; and grandchildren: Tyler (Renee) Merrihew, Mitchell Merrihew (Cydney Abel), Katelyn (Justin) Sharrar and Andrew Shafley; great-grandchildren: Melanie Quinn Merrihew and Leighton Davis.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Jim, Roger, and Robert Watson; and sister: Sally Shinabery.
Per Charlene’s wishes, a private family service and burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
