Obituary for Charles Albert Griffin

Charles Albert Griffin, faithful servant of Christ, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, age 89, passed away with his family around him.

A Celebration of Life for Charles will be held at Mt. Pleasant Community Church on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Mora officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the church. Interment in Kelly Cemetery will follow. Visitation for Charles will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 6, from 4 until 8 p.m. and will continue at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Charles “Sonny” was born November 11, 1934, to William M. and Martha R. (Young) Griffin in Mountain View, MO, and joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He married Lillian V. Herron on April 23, 1955, in Oil City, MI. Charles retired from Dow Corning, and then did janitorial work for Mount Pleasant Community Church.

Charles is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lillian Griffin; children, Robin VanConant, Colleen (Lemuel) Granada, Jr, and Jim (Sandra) Griffin; grandchildren, Heather, Stacey (Alison), Charlie (Allyson) VanConant, Luke Granada (Becky Miller), Loreen Zingery, Casey, Michelle Granada, Courtney (Joe) Stuyvesant, and Alexander, Cameron Griffin; great-grandchildren, Destiny Rose, Thomas, Paisley, Oliver, Owen, Layla, Parker, Averie, Spencer; sisters, Lavina (Melvin) Hunt, Martha Griffin, Ruby Eastman, and Barbara (Harold) Faust; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Barbara Fenby, Shirley Herron, Gary (Patricia) Herron, and Gerald Burkett; and many special nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in glory by his parents; parents-in-law; son-in-law, Larry VanConant; brothers-in-law, Hugh Eastman, Raymond Fenby, and Bud Herron; and sister-in-law, Ellen Burkett.

The Griffin Family would like to thank some special people that helped care for Charles: Dr. Shankariah and staff, and his awesome Hospice team; Kristy, Tina, Greg, Bekky, Amanda, Elizabeth, and Cynthia. You all made this transition easier, and we have been blessed by every one of you.
