Colleen L. Campbell, 93, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Rosebush Manor.

Colleen was born February 9, 1931, in rural Isabella County to Carey M. and Lucile (Gostola) Robinson. With her family, she lived in Rosebush, Vestaburg and eventually Mt. Pleasant, MI, where she graduated with the MPHS Class of 1947. She attended Central State Teachers College (CMU) and studied Elementary Education. While there, she began her teaching career in 1950 in Delwin, MI at Keller School, a one-room schoolhouse. She would continue in this field through 1972 with positions at Sacred Heart Academy, St. Joseph the Worker, Mt. Pleasant State Home and Training School, and Mt. Pleasant Zonta Club’s Day Care Center. She would later become employed at Central Michigan University, retiring in 1991 from the Department of Teacher Education.

She married Robert J. Campbell on April 21, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church, where both attended as parishioners. Robert and Colleen raised four children: Valerie Thompson, Lynette (Daniel G.) Bailey, Mark Campbell (Joseph Krueger), and Caryn (Dennis) Manning. She is the grandmother to Kara (Scott) Benaske and Erin Bailey, and a great-grandmother to seven.

Colleen will be remembered by all who knew her for her deep love of music, singing, and playing the piano. She participated in several community and Sacred Heart variety shows for many years, and volunteered at many nursing homes and assisted living facilities in sing-alongs. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting and would feature her works at her shop, The Purple Pansy Country Store.

She is survived by her family, and was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, a brother Carey L. Robinson, and her much loved uncle and aunt, Joseph Gostola and Frances Bollman.
