Obituary for Craig Stevens Panwas

Craig Steven Panwas was first and fore-most a excellent father. He was a loving brother, friend, and husband who had just recently lost his wife to cancer on December 20th, 2023. He has left this world shortly after on April 16th, 2024 after his own very long battle with COPD and emphysema. He was 72 years old. Craig was born the son of Edwin and Marjorie Panwas in 1952. He was united in marriage to Larene Jo Bowles on March 7th, 1986.

Craig loved to fish and hunt with his siblings and close friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on the yard, ”tinkering” with automobiles, and “kibitzing” with neighbors. He was also kind to everyone and would give the shirt off his back, if needed. He was a Vietnam veteran, a patriot that served his country bravely in the Navy. He was proud to be an American, and he bought, lived, and breathed it. Craig enjoyed his well-earned retirement in Harrison, Michigan. A place he called “God’s Country”. He and his wife, Larene had a blast “garage-saling” with their lifelong friends, Bob and Lori and many others over the years. He was also a phenomenal cook that could make a mean reuben, quiche, onion ring, and Kapusta.
Craig is survived by his three children; Dena Renee, Meagan Rose, and Zachary Victor. Along with his siblings; “brother David”, “brother Ed”, and “sister Mary”. Craig also was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Sherry.

A “Celebration of Life” family and friends gathering will be held in memory of Craig and his wife Larene at the family cabin in Harrison, Michigan at a date to be determined. Cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory in Mt. Pleasant.https://www.daisyhillcrematory.com/.
“Our Hero”
Dad, your love was always unconditional, the unwavering warmth of our hero.
You never strayed from your true purpose, to take care of your family, and we always felt cared for; you are our hero.
Your positivity, your smile, and your warm welcome will never be forgotten;
You were the beacon, the constant light in our lives, and your light will shine on in our memories of our hero.
You were always admired for your innate kindness and decency, as you saw the good in everyone;
We hear you saying, “Can’t we all just get along?” a common phrase in the voice of our hero.
Your strong hands, hard-working, yet gentle; stern, yet forgiving.
You passed down your lessons of morality and integrity, and they live on in us, these teachings of our hero.
You were the rock of our family, and generous beyond measure.
Thank you, Dad, for all of your hard work throughout the entirety of your life, for your blood sweat and tears; for the strength of our hero.
You are sorely missed by your children; we will take care of your legacy, so your heart will live on in “God’s Country”; for the peace of our hero.
Goodbye for now, our precious father, as we know you are with mom and you are both now free, In a place we will eventually be,
And we will then again come to see, our hero.
