Obituary for Dale Gary Stekl
Dale Gary Stekl 72 of rural Harrison, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Woodland Hospice House, Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Dale was born March 5, 1947 in Bay City, Michigan the son of George William Stekl and Marian Irene (Starkey) Stekl. Dale graduated high school in 1965 from Akron-Fairgrove High School, Fairgrove, Michigan. He furthered his education from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy. On September 17, 1966 at Fairgrove United Methodist Church, Fairgrove, Michigan, Mr. Stekl was united in marriage to Ms. Diane Lee Briggs.
Mr. Stekl had resided in Harrison since 2006, moving from Fairgrove, after his retirement as a self-employed crop farmer and rural mail carrier. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and furniture making. His favorite hobby was the game of golf with family and friends.
Surviving Mr. Stekl is his loving wife and best friend, Mrs. Diane Lee Stekl of Harrison, two children; Jeffrey D. Stekl and wife Anne of Traverse City, Michigan and Jennifer L. Doyle and husband Dennis of Midland, Michigan, two grandchildren; Connor G. Doyle and Brennan P. Doyle, one sister, Brenda J. Rae of Alpena, Michigan, two sisters -in-law; Linda White and husband Maurice of Thompsonville, Michigan and Laura Briggs of York, Nebraska, three brothers-in-law; Wayne Briggs of Abilene, Texas, Mark Briggs and wife Rhonda of York, Nebraska and David Briggs of Lincoln, Nebraska, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mr. Stekl was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Charles and Altamay Briggs.
Inurnment for Mr. Stekl will be held in the late spring of 2020 at Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove, Michigan.
