Obituary for Dale Joseph Lawens

Lawens, Dale Joseph, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Woodland Hospice House.

Funeral Services for Dale will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Connie Bongard of Clare Congregational Church officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Dale was born on February 25, 1938, in Beal City, the only child of Louis J. and Viola C. (Schon) Lawens. He married Delores Jean Hackney on May 22, 1965. Dale worked for Delfield, retiring after 16 years, and also drove truck for Mid Michigan Trucking. He took over the family dairy farm and farmed his entire life, most recently crop farming with his sons. Dale loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing cards.
Dale is survived by his wife Delores (Hackney) Lawens; his sons John Lawens (Kerry), Bill Lawens (Jackie), Tad Lawens, Marilyn Lawens (Ken), Lyn Lawens, Barney Lawens, and Charlotte Shaner (Mark); grandchildren Sage Lawens, Scott Lawens, Johna Lawens, Ciara Lawens, Bailey Lawens, Alex Lawens, Luke Lawens, Nick Downs, Konner Hayward, Parker Shaner and Gunner Shaner; and great-grandchildren Grace Lawens, Hunter Lawens and Alannah Lawens.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and many great friends.
