Obituary for Darlene Ann Gidley
GIDLEY, DARLENE ANN, age 83, of Lake Isabella, formerly of Frankenmuth, died peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday February 20, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region.
Funeral Services for Darlene will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Mecosta on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Will Hooper officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment will take place on a later date at St. Lorenz Cemetery in Frankenmuth. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26 from 4-7 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant and on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church or Special Olympics. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.
Darlene was born on June 19, 1935, in Saginaw, the daughter of Henry and Pearl (Spaeth) Dengler. She married Gaylord Gidley on August 20, 1955. Darlene went to Saginaw High School through her junior year and graduated from the Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1953. She attended Concordia University in River Forrest, Illinois. She was a current member of Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, and a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. Darlene taught school at Trinity Lutheran School in Reed City, and at St. John Lutheran School in Amelith. She retired in 1998 after working at Independence Village in Frankenmuth.
Darlene is survived by her son Craig Gidley of Augusta, GA; daughter Cheryl Gidley of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Michelle Gidley of Alma; grandchildren Mia and Noah Gidley of Chalfont, PA; brother Darrell (Jan) Dengler of Houghton Lake; sisters Betty Bamberg of Frankenmuth, Barb (Ralph) Krueger of Delton, and Janice (Tom) Glazier of Beaverton; brother-in-law Duane (Linda) Gidley of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law Betty Chinery of Ventura, CA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gaylord in 2014; daughter Gretchen in 1982; and brothers-in-law Hazen “Skid” Gidley in 2009, Donald Bamberg in 1987 and Leo Chinery in 2003, and nephew, Corey Wallace in 2006.
