Obituary for David Kenneth Cotter

DAVID KENNETH COTTER, age 47, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital.

Funeral Services for David will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 1 p.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends from Friday, November 5, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for David’s children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

David was born in Mt. Pleasant on February 22, 1974, the son of Terry and Katherine (Houghton) Cotter. He graduated from Chippewa Hill High School with the Class of 1993. David worked as a surveillance technician for the Soaring Eagle Casino, where he has made many great friends, and where he met Sarah in 2006. He married Sarah in Mt. Pleasant on August 27, 2010. David liked playing guitar, especially Metallica tunes. He also enjoyed woodworking and running RC cars. David loved traveling, going to concerts with Sarah, and playing video games and watching TV and movies with his wife and kids. Some of David’s favorite pastimes were the annual family vacation in Curtis and Cedar Point and camping trips with his family.

David is survived by his wife Sarah Wilber; his children Zoe Cotter, River Cotter, Maggie Cotter; parents Terry and Katherine Cotter of Mt. Pleasant; parents-in-law Terry and Mary Wilber of St. Charles; brothers Christopher (Danielle) Cotter of Lake Isabella, Terry (Alaina) Cotter of Vestaburg; sisters Cindy (Daniel) Utterback of Woodland, Danielle (Jeremy) Hopwood of Grand Haven, Katherine (Thomas) Donley of Middleville; grandfather Kenneth Cotter of Mt. Pleasant; grandmother Donna Houghton of Mt. Pleasant; in-laws Rachael Wilber of Auburn, IN, Bob Wilber of Hemlock, Jackie Wilber of St. Charles; and many other extended family members.

David was preceded in death by his grandfather Kenneth Houghton; grandmother Sharon Cotter; aunt Lisa Houghton; and brother-in-law Jeremy Hopwood.
