Obituary for Dean Earl Chapman

CHAPMAN, DEAN EARL, age 77, of Farwell, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Alma, Michigan.

A Memorial Service for Dean will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with his grandson, Pastor Bryan Chapman officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately following at Reflections Reception Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella Commission on Aging or Veterans4USA. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Dean was born October 22, 1944, in Alma, the son of Edwin and Othea (Sperry) Chapman. He married Irene Rhode, and they had two daughters. Dean worked as a Pipefitter Foreman for many years and retired from Union Local #085. He was a member of the Clare Rod and Gun Club, Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, and served as treasurer for Otter Lake Association for many years. Dean was an excellent craftsman; he loved working with wood, building things, and was a talented “fixer” with an extensive tool collection. He was always willing to donate and help others in need.

Dean is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Joe) Bourque of Alma, Deanna (Dean) Huffman of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Sam) Hanus, Justin Chapman, Raelyn Pelon, Bryan (Madison) Chapman, Braedon (Destine) Chapman, Joel Chapman; Cassie Huffman of Big Rapids, Shannon Haywood of Alamogordo, NM; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; sisters Ruth (Delton) Maxon of Edmore, and Rolene Thomas (Jim Bennett) of Farwell.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Duane and Donald Chapman; and grandson Jeremy Chapman.
