Obituary for Debora Parnell (Tupper)

PARNELL, Debora (Tupper), age 64, passed away on November 7, 2023.

Per Debbie’s wishes, a cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.

Though her time on earth was too short, she enjoyed a lifetime of adventures traveling the world with her family. The youngest daughter of Bonnie and Ken Schrock, she left Mt. Pleasant at the age of 24, moving to Texas to work in banking and eventually moving to San Diego upon marrying her spouse. Shortly after the birth of her first daughter, Debbie and her family moved to Japan, where she led girl scout troops, volunteered, and found a new place to practice her lifelong love of shopping. Debbie spent several years in Georgia, where she gave birth to her second daughter, before returning overseas again, this time to London. The happiest period of her life, Debbie enjoyed decorating their 18th century manor house, volunteering with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, going to the theatre, and traveling around Europe with her camera in hand. Debbie eventually settled in Virginia, where she created a beautiful home to host family and friends and still enjoyed frequent travel. The “Queen of Halloween,” Debbie especially enjoyed holidays. She was known for throwing fabulous parties and filling her home with many Christmas trees, her favorite being 12 feet tall. Following the death of her beloved cocker spaniel, she returned to Mt. Pleasant in 2022 to be closer to family.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Connie Latham, and brother-in-law Mike McCrackin.
