WEHNER, DEBRA ANN, age 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at her home.
Funeral Services for Debra will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Swarthout officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Animal Treatment Society, 1105 S. Isabella Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Debra was born January 13, 1959, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of William and Shirley (Buxton) Bickford. She graduated from J.P. Knapp High School in Currtuck, North Carolina with the class of 1977. Following graduation, Debra joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served from 1977-1982, finishing as Yeoman 2nd Class. She married Kenneth Wehner on December 21, 1979. Debra earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from CMU. She had a love of history and was part of world history when the Berlin Wall fell. Debra was always a part of her childrens lives coaching when they were playing ball and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her passion was coaching and watching softball and soccer. She was able to attend the Womens College World Series in 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska. Following retirement, Debra and Kenn spent 8 years traveling through 24 of the United States in their camper.
Debra is survived by her husband Kenneth Wehner; son Christopher (Elizabeth) Wehner of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters Jennifer (Jason) Sweebe of Mt. Pleasant, Nicole (Connor) VanStee of Comstock Park; stepdaughter Kelli (Chris) Mills of NV; grandchildren Wyatt, Collin, Sophia, Ethan, Mazarine; mother Shirley Bickford of Moyock, NC; sisters Cindy (John) Maziarka of Moyock, NC, Vicky Fox of Semes, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Debra was preceded in death by her father William Bickford.
