Obituary for Donald Eugene "Don" Mulder

Donald “Don” Eugene Mulder Sr. 85 of Harrison passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Donald was born August 19, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of John and Jenny (Slykhouse) Mulder. Don had resided in Harrison for over fifty years, moving from Grand Rapids.
Mr. Mulder owned and operated D&M Plastering of Harrison for many years. He also was the past owner and operator of Don’s Sporting Goods of Harrison for several years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2235 of Harrison, and a long-time member of the Harrison Sportsman Club, where he volunteered countless hours and was awarded the coveted Lifetime Contribution award on November 6 2001. Don was an avid sportsman, enjoying deer hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He enjoyed pistol and benchrest competition shooting, where he earned a second - place national award for benchrest shooting. Don was an avid gun and knife collector, and travelled around the state to many gun and knife shows, buying and selling his collection. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially over good conversation or a bbq dinner.
Surviving Mr. Mulder are his four children; Sherri McClellan of Harrison, Doug Mulder and wife Joyce of Harrison, Don Mulder and fiancé, Laurie Glines also of Harrison and Robin Stoner of Harrison, seven step-children; Sharron, Vickie,Doug, Donald, Scott, Dan and Mary, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister in law, Lois Mulder of Grand Rapids, plus many nieces, nephews and close friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Kay, Della and Ruth, one brother, Johnny Mulder, step son, Greg and his closest and dear friend, Earl “Bear” LaDere.
Funeral services honoring and celebrating Don’s life, will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Gary Leyendecker officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Harrison.
