Obituary for Dorothy Mae Smith
Smith, Dorothy Mae, age 95, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021, at her home.
Services for Dorothy will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Doyle Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Denver Township Cemetery. A luncheon will take place at Faith Indian Nazarene Church following the committal service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 2 from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Dorothy was born on February 15 ,1926 in Benham, KY, the daughter of William Dozier and Carrie (Disney) Dozier. After graduating high school in Benham, KY, she attended Olivet Nazarene University. Dorothy married Owen Smith, Sr. on June 4, 1953, in Lansing. Dorothy was a member of Faith Nazarene Indian Church and served as their Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed fill-It-ins, video games, her marble game and playing piano. Dorothy loved her work on the Nazarene North American Indian District. She loved playing video games with her grandchildren. She was completely devoted to her family and church.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Dwight Smith of Denver, CO and Julie (Paul) Pego of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law: Jeri Smith; grandchildren: Michael Smith, Michelle (Domingo)Smith-Jaramillo, John Silversmith and David Silversmith; and great-grandchildren: Alex Cameron and Baylee Ajei (My Heart).
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Owen; son: Owen J. Smith Jr.; daughter: Joyce Smith; and sisters: Thelma Dozier and Alma Ferguson.
