Obituary for Douglas Eugene "Doug" Mulder
Douglas “Doug” E. Mulder 61 of Harrison passed away at his home on Friday, May 24, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Doug was born April 24, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Donald Eugene Mulder Sr. and Viola Mae (DeZwaane) Mulder. Doug had resided in Harrison since 1970, moving from Grand Rapids. Doug was united in marriage to Ms. Joyce M. Henry on July 12, 1975 in Harrison.
Doug owned and operated Northern Michigan Interiors and Exteriors of Harrison, formerly Mid Michigan Interiors, he was also the owner and operator of Fish-OnTackle Company and Authentic Antler Productions. Mr. Mulder was an avid hunter, competitive shooter, fisherman and pool player. Doug was awarded the prestigious Mepps Fishing Award, distinguishing him as a Master Angler.He enjoyed collecting and selling knives and guns, mushroom hunting, smoking fish, venison and pork loin and spending vacations with his family and friends in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As a young man, Doug was a speed roller skater earning a trip to the National Competition. Many will remember Doug for his exemplary drywall, painting and exterior finishing skills, and his creative antler furniture and carvings.
Surviving Mr. Mulder is his best friend and love of his life, Mrs. Joyce M. Mulder of Harrison, one daughter, SueAnn Mulder of Harrison, two grandsons; Dylon Douglas Herron of Harrison and Adam Maurice Bohnard also of Harrison, his sister, Sherry McClellan of Harrison, half-sister, Robin Stoner of Harrison, half-brother, Don Mulder Jr. and fiancé Laurie Glines of Harrison, step-mother, Joann Hoyland of Lansing, three step-sisters; Sharron, Vickie and Mary, four step-brothers; Doug, Donald, Scott and Dan, four sisters in law; Val, Vanessa, Jeanann and Karren, three brothers in law; Clem, Sam and Maurice “Neil”, plus many nieces, nephews, close friends and his beloved dogs; Myia and Max. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and one step-brother, Greg.
Funeral services honoring Doug will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorial gifts may be considered to the Mulder Family, in care of: Joyce M. Mulder.
