Obituary for Dr. Mary Louise Aylor

AYLOR, DR. MARY LOUISE, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at her home.

Funeral Mass for Mary Lou will take place on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Shepherd with Father Bert Gohm as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at the parish hall. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place at a later date with her husband John at Christ Episcopal Church in Kensington, MD.

Mary Lou was born in Washington, D.C., on December 26, 1942, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Rice) Williams. She married John Robert Aylor on August 22, 1964, in Washington, D.C. John preceded her in death on May 17, 2010. Mary Lou earned her PhD in Philosophy from University of South Carolina, working as a professor of early childhood education at CMU until her retirement in 2014. She was a parishioner at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic where she was active in the church choir and Faith Weavers. Mary Lou had many hobbies, including crafting, genealogy, and a love of travel. Her passion for music was fulfilled by being an integral part of her church choir and learning to play guitar, piano, and organ.

Mary Lou is survived by her children: Lisa-Marie (Richard) Marks of Pinellas Park, FL, John (Kristy) Aylor of St. Charles, MO, Michael (Jolene) Aylor of Alma; grandchildren John, Mary, Rick, Nichole, Chad, Alex, Mali, Kendra, Danielle, Brianna, Blake; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Roseman of Concord, NC; sister-in-law Jane Aylor of Falls Church, VA; nephews Brandon (Erin) Roseman and Jamie Roseman, both of Concord, NC; and Godson Ken (Michelle) Harris of Clarksville, MD.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband; parents-in-law Josephine and John O. Aylor; great-granddaugther Harley Aylor; and brothers-in-law Jim Aylor and Jim Roseman.
