Obituary for Edward Albert Johengen II

JOHENGEN, EDWARD ALBERT II, age 68, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alma.

A Celebration of Edward's Life will be held in the Reflections Reception Center at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Edward was born on November 25, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Edward and Marcia (Linn) Johengen. Edward graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1971, and went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science from Central Michigan University. Edward, known to his friends as Ed, led youth groups at Model U.N. Conferences and Civitan Youth Seminars. He went on to become a secondary education teacher. In earlier years, he rode in a number of 100 mile bicycle tours, including the Holland 100, 100 Grand, and One Helluva Ride. He had a wide circle of friends, many of whom he kept throughout his lifetime. Edward was an avid reader, who read some 1200 books in history and politics, along with an array of magazines. During the holidays, Edward never failed to deliver his home made Apple Bread to his friends.

Edward is survived by his siblings, Carole (Anthony) Battaglia of Rochester Hills, MI, Mott Johengen of Mt. Pleasant, and Diane Johengen of Lexington, KY; niece, Marcy (Ray) Clay; and nephew, Spencer Sperling; and many cousins.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents.
