Obituary for Edwin Ross Fike Sr.

FIKE, EDWIN ROSS, SR., age 76, of Rosebush, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.

Ed was born in Clare, Michigan, March 7, 1948, the son of Vernell and Eva (Hodson) Fike. Ed was a hardworking man early on at his family’s farm. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1967. Ed later married Patricia Ann (Holliday) Fike on February 28, 1969, in Rosebush; Pat preceded him in death on May 5, 2016. Ed was an operator for Local #324 for 45 years. He loved his job with the pipeline and made many lifelong friends throughout the years. Ed was also known to have a love for dancing anywhere, anytime. Always bringing his friends and grandchildren out onto the dance floor. Ed then enjoyed his retirement years wintering in Florida. Ed had a true passion for fishing; when he wasn’t working he could be found on the water, whether it be in Michigan or Florida. Ed also enjoyed baseball and spending time with friends and family.

Ed is survived by his sons, Eddie (Carrie) Fike of Beal City, Mark (Tina) Fike of Marine City; granddaughters, Taylor, Alexis, Madeline, Kennedy, Devon, Rylee; sister Dolores Lockwood of Rosebush; and his companion of the last 6 years, IdaMae Behrendt of Pennsylvania.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife Pat; sister Karen Clear; and brother Barry Fike.

Funeral Services for Ed will take place at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jon Baker officiating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Reflections Reception Center. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosebush Presbyterian Church (3914 N Mission Rd, Rosebush, MI 48878) or Harvey Memorial Community Church (PO Box 243, Bradenton Beach, FL 34217). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
