Obituary for Edwin Rivard Walker Jr.
WALKER, EDWIN RIVARD, JR., age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home, with his family by his side.
Visitation will take place at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. ,a Masonic Service will take place at 5 p.m. and a time of sharing at 5:30 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to veteran non-profit organizations Veterans4USA, PO Box 279, Weidman, Michigan, 48893. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Ed was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on February 22, 1933, the son of Edwin and Letha (Rizor) Walker. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Ed served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. He worked at Great Lakes Steel for many years, retiring in 1984. While working there, Ed completed a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in the early 1970’s. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #424 in Weidman. Ed had many hobbies, including golfing, traveling, and shooting pool. He loved history, especially military history, watching classic movies, reading, and spending time with close family.
Ed is survived by his brothers, Michael Walker of Mt. Pleasant, Charles (Dora) Walker of Grosse Ile; nephews Jeffrey Walker of Mt. Pleasant, Timothy Walker of Owosso, Adam Walker (Amanda Pruehs) of Mt. Pleasant; niece Alison (Tyler) Ruple of St. Charles.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law Noel Walker.
