Obituary for Eli (Eli-son) Samuel Starkey

Eli Samuel Starkey (Eli-son)

Age 22 years old of Mount Pleasant, Mi. passed away on January 15, 2021.

Eli graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2016 with a 3.5 GPA. He was a member of The National Technical Honor Society. He received a congratulatory letter from Congressman Moolenaar of The House of Representatives as well as a Certificate of Recognition of his induction from State Senator Judy K. Emmons.

Eli was employed at Blarney Castle in Rosebush for the past two years. He also had experience in construction, as he helped build the house on the Joseph Wabanoo family property.

When Eli was in elementary school, he had his first Halloween party. The fun we had, it brought the Rosebush gang together. Eli made so many wonderful friends, including Alan and Elaina, they helped make his childhood a blessed one. He loved with his everything, he valued every one of you.

Eli loved helping others with whatever they needed, he was very selfless. He loved to research many things, including naturopathy. He was researching plants, to let us know what they could do to help us. He also loved video gaming, working out, kayaking, swimming, 3D modeling, listening to music and hunting. School was easy for Eli. He memorized stoichiometry in high school. Many times, he would mix up different chemicals to make very cool and fun projects.

Once he made a gasifier that converted the smoke from burning wood into a high-octane synthetic gas that ran his family’s generator. His ability to breeze through the labs at MMCC was a testament to his ability. Self-educating was priority, as he took himself to a very high level.

Eli is survived by his parents Ms. Bobby Jo Starkey of Mt. Pleasant, Dave Monroe (Elisabeth) of Coleman; Stepbrothers Caleb Howard, Cameron Johnson; Grandparents Kim Meyers and Don Vollmar of Coleman; Great-grandparents Patsy Monroe of Mt. Pleasant, Jimmy (Irene) Monroe of Mecosta; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
