Obituary for Ella Margaret Thronson
THRONSON, ELLA MARGARET (Packwood), age 80, of Harrison passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at McLaren Flint Hospital.
As per Ella’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory. Ella will be buried with her husband DuWayne at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 9 a.m. A memorial gathering and meal will follow at the VFW Post 822, 5065 S. Saginaw Road, Flint, MI 48507. Memorial contributions in memory of Ella may be made to the American Heart Association or American Kidney Fund.
Ella was born on December 26, 1941, in Bay City, the daughter of the late Clarence and June (Secor) Packwood. She married Ivan Callahan in 1957 and later married DuWayne Leroy “Dewey” Thronson on September 27, 1980. Ella was involved with the VFW Axillary 822, which she served as president from 1994-95, the Harrison Moose Lodge, and the Harrison American Legion. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting, and needle point.
Ella is survived by her children, Carol Hall of Mt. Morris, Laura Boedecker of Clio, Sherry (Frank) Luney of Mt. Morris, Leah (David) Chitwood of Saginaw, Arthur C. Callahan of Harrison, , Randy Thronson of Flint, Gary Thronson of Flint, Ricky (Kelly) Thronson of Reed City , Kathy Morrison of Burton, Jody D. Thronson of California, Shaun (Shawn) Thronson of Perry, Wendy Benore; 21 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother Ronald Packwood; sister Joyce (Roy) Persails, and several nieces and nephews.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Ivan Callahan, husband DuWayne Thronson, infant child Ivan Arthur Callahan Jr., brothers Melvin Packwood and Nelson Packwood, sister-in-law Noriyo Packwood.
