Obituary for Esther Gadwa
ESTHER MAE GADWA, age 91, of Royal Oak passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
A Memorial Mass for Esther will be held at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 3077 Glouchester Dr., Troy, MI, 48084, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Don Demmers officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at a later date in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. The family will receive friends at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and Christ Our Light Catholic Church.
Esther was born on April 27, 1930, in Detroit, daughter of Louis and Emma (LaLonde) DesJardins. She married Lionel "Leo" Gadwa in 1952. Esther was a great baker and graduated from culinary school in her later years. She was a member of Tuesday Clawson Quilting Sisters and Laughs and Crafts of Lathrup Village. She had a great passion for helping and caring for others. She was a crossing guard, retiring in her late 80's. She loved to take trips with her daughters. Esther was a devoted catholic. She prayed the Rosary daily, always for others.
Esther is survived by her children, Lionel "Leo" Gadwa, Jr., Jean'Ne (Leonard) Swiatek, Dan (Liz) Gadwa, Tim (Kathy) Gadwa, and Mary Beth (Frank) Rowland; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie, Kevin, Zachary, Becky, Erica, Angie, Pete, Gretchen, Danny, Jessica, Timmy, Molly, Andy, and Meghan; 19 great-grandchildren; and several dear friends.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leo Gadwa in 2017.
