Obituary for Eugene Joseph "Gene" Ohms

OHMS, EUGENE “Gene” JOSEPH, age 75, a life-long resident of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral Services for Eugene will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gene Haymaker and Gordy Houser officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Maranatha Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Eugene was born July 5, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Lon and Rosie (Woodbury) Ohms and was a life-long Mt. Pleasant resident. Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. Gene worked most of his adult life in the oil fields. This career ended working for Chevron out of Breckenridge, Michigan. Gene drove for the Amish for many years. He loved his family, Pure Oil Company and John Deere and enjoyed going to car and tractor shows.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; daughter: Julie Ohms of Mt. Pleasant; son: Joe (Stephanie) Ohms of Clare; sisters: Dorothy (Milan) Johnson of Overland Park, KS and Donna Robert of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law: Jim Haught of Wellston, MI; and nieces and nephews: LeeAnn (Tim) Thompson, Kathy Ohms, Kay Robert, Chris (Amy) Johnson, Terry Ohms, Dan Robert, John Haught, and Andy Harless.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Lon and Rosie Ohms; brother and sister-in-law: Earl and Betty Ohms; nephews: Gary Ohms and Dale Robert; and sister-in-law: Becky Haught.
