Obituary for Forrest Thompson Robinson

ROBINSON, FORREST THOMPSON, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018.

A Memorial Service for Forrest will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at St. John's Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton and The Rev. Sr. Diane Stier officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, the Chamichian Master Concert Series, or the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club. Envelopes will be available at the church the day of the Service or Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Forrest was born April 28, 1927, in Emporia, KS, the son of Forrest Royal and Mabel (Thompson) Robinson. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1945-July 1946. Forrest taught classical music at Lawrence College, the University of Alabama, and Boston University, where he earned his Doctorate. He was Professor of Music at Central Michigan University for 30 years and was very active with their Friendship Family Program. He also founded CMU’s Electronic Music Program. As a member of the Rotary Club, he hosted many International Exchange guests throughout the years. Forrest married Linda Rae Lynch in Mt. Pleasant on June 26, 1976. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and listening to and performing classical music. His love of learning included the sciences, history and different cultures. Forrest was a long-time member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where he served as a member of the Vestry.

Forrest is survived by his wife of 42 years Linda Robinson of Mt. Pleasant; son Erik Robinson of DeWitt, daughter Allegra Blake of Mt. Pleasant; stepson Edward (Glezia) Lynch of Ann Arbor; stepdaughter Sarah (Paul) Scullion of Vicenza, Italy; five grandchildren, Jessica, Ian, Daniel, Brendan, and Lucas; and great-granddaughter Cordelia.
