Obituary for Gary Lewis Kushmaul

Kushmaul, Gary Lewis, age 69, of Lake passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Memorial Service for Gary will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Biedenbender of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Interment of cremains will follow in Lincoln Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Service on Wednesday, September 1, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Fraternal Order of Eagles. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Gary was born May 23, 1952, in Midland, the son of Albert and Wilma (Spencer) Kushmaul. He married Vonda K. Recker on February 9, 1997. Gary owned and operated the Butcher Block for 27 years and had previously worked at Ashcraft’s and Giant Foods. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Fraternal Order of Eagles and Faith Lutheran Church. Gary enjoyed being outdoors and loved to hunt and fish, motorcycling, boating on one of the many boats he bought, and playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed traveling.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Vonda Kushmaul of Lake; his children Scott Kushmaul of Jacksonville, FL and Melissa Kushmaul-Smith (Don Lawler) of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; and his dog “Posie”; in-laws Darsha (Paul) Cole, Shelly (James) Short, and Jim Recker, Jr., all of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Jennifer; 1 brother and 3 sisters; and his in-laws.
