Obituary for Geraldine Grisdale (Snyder)

GRISDALE, GERALDINE (SNYDER), age 99, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Geraldine will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the luncheon, burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3033. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Geraldine was born June 16, 1923, in Gladwin County, the daughter of Welcome and Beatrice (Crowell) Snyder. She married James F. Grisdale on January 9, 1944, in Bennettsville, South Carolina. During WII, Geraldine was an active Rosie the Riveter. She worked at the CMU Mailroom for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Geraldine was a graduate of Beaverton High School, Mid-Michigan College, and received her B.S. Degree from CMU in 1981. In her career she was a field editor for “Taste of Home” magazine, having many winning recipes published. She won several blue ribbons at fairs with her baking and crocheting. She kept busy with crafts, was an avid reader, enjoyed feeding the birds, and tending her flowers. She loved country music and attended Fan Fair in Nashville for many years. Geraldine was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #3033.

Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Lesle (Dwight) Fulk of Mt. Pleasant, Cristine (Phillip) Sillitoe of Wales, UK; sons, Greg (Denise) Grisdale of Alabama, Kyle Grisdale of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Shem, Angela, Alexandria, Shane, Nathan, Renae, Rachelle, Risa, Martty, Holly; several great-grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband James; son Tony; daughter-in-law Debra Grisdale; grandchildren Jimmy, Kenneth, and Barney; sister Florence; and brother Leo Jinks.
