Obituary for Gibson Roy Wheatley

WHEATLEY, GIBSON ROY, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Lansing, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at his home under the care of Hospice of Michigan.

A Memorial Service for Gibson will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 28, at 5 p.m. with Arnie Parish officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Burial will take place at the Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Gibson was born on August 6, 1926, in River Rouge, MI, the son of William and Lena (Shipman-Dodge) Wheatley. Gibson proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He married Ada Tobias, the love of his life in Lansing, MI. He was a member of the VFW. He was a "jack of all trades" and had a great sense of humor.

Gibson is survived by his children, Deborah (Philip) Lerma, William Wheatley, and Louis (Andrea) Wheatley; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Gibson was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Wheatley; infant son, Gibson Wheatley, Jr.; and daughter, Peggy Lerma.
