Obituary for Glenn Lawrence Phaneuf

Glenn L. Phaneuf, age 67, died suddenly on August 7, 2022, in his beloved Northern
Michigan surrounded by the nature he loved so much. He was born on November 8,
1954 in Detroit, Michigan, to Carol (Dickason) and the late Lawrence Phaneuf. He is
survived by his loving wife, Patrice, son, Kyle, mother, Carol, sisters Linda Phaneuf
Hughes and Susan (Glen Gagne) Chakan, nieces Sara (Scott) McDaniel, Erika (Dustin)
Hamel and Christina (Nick) McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Justin
Hughes. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews.
Glenn had been retired for several years but since he was not one to sit idle, he went
back to work part-time at National Time and Signal. He valued this job and truly
enjoyed his co-workers.
When he was not working, Glenn enjoyed spending time with his wife at their house on
Pontiac Lake. He was a jack of all trades and kept his house and yard in meticulous
condition. Of course, he was also a master of reclining and relaxing.
While Glenn loved his home, he loved being outside in all the beauty that Michigan
offers, especially the Upper Peninsula. He hiked trails, hunted, and was the Captain of
the boat he and Patrice shared. He was most peaceful drifting around Pontiac Lake in
the pontoon boat with his rum and Coke, but the cherry on top was getting chocolate ice
cream from the “drive thru” on the lake. While he loved lake living, Glenn was no
stranger to two wheels. He loved letting his “hair” down as he rode his beloved Harley-
Davidson motorcycle.
But above all, Glenn was a great friend to so many across the country and was the rock
of the Phaneuf family. He will be greatly missed but he will always remain in our hearts.
Whenever you stop to appreciate the beauty of nature, the magnificence of a 10-point
buck, or cross the Mackinac Bridge, think of Glenn.
The Phaneuf family will honor Glenn by hosting an open house for all friends and family
on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm. at the home of Patrice and Glenn.
Lunch will be provided.
