Obituary for Gordon L. Rydman

DR. GORDON L. RYDMAN, age 82, of Rosebush, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Pastor Rydman will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 18, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Dan Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held in the Reflections Reception Center following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church or Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Gordon was born on November 19, 1936, in Gladwin, the son of Leslie “Whit” and Evelyn (Richardson) Rydman. He married Stella Rose Barber on March 29, 1957, in Clare. Gordon received his Bachelor of Religious Education and Honorary Doctorate of Humanities degrees from Midwestern Baptist College and Seminary. He was the Pastor at Central Baptist Church for 40 years and loved pastoring, preaching, and teaching his church community. Gordon also worked as a journeyman millwright for Dow Corning Corporation from 1955-1976. He enjoyed small game and deer hunting, farming, and his 2-cylinder John Deere collection.

Gordon is survived by his children, Timothy (Deborah) Rydman of Macomb Township, Daniel (Rita) Rydman, Sr. of Rosebush, Samuel (DeAnne) Rydman of Mt. Pleasant, Pastor Alan (Sara) Rydman of Mt. Pleasant, and Rebecca Carlino of Timberlake, NC; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Gerald (Joyce) Rydman of Saginaw, Gene (Virginia) Rydman of Coleman; sister Rosanne (Raymond) West of North Bradley; and many nieces and nephews.

Gordon was preceded in death by; his wife Stella Rydman on October 24, 2018; his parents; and brother Glenn Rydman.
