Obituary for Harold William Tremain

TREMAIN, HAROLD WILLIAM, age 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 surrounded by family singing hymns.

Funeral Services for Harold will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chuck Swarthout officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at Clark Funeral Chapel Reception Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Destiny Christian Ministries or Gideons International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Harold was born June 27, 1931, in Flint, the son of Otis and Lula (Wheelock) Tremain. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the class of 1949. Harold married Mary Louise Waidler on September 14, 1957 in Grand Blanc. He earned his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1958, and was a professor at Central Michigan University for 21 years. Harold also worked as a CPA for over 50 years. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp from 1952-1954. He was a member of Destiny Christian Ministries, Gideons International, MICPA, AICPA, and American Legion. Harold enjoyed serving God and demonstrated that through loving his family and others. He also enjoyed serving in his church. He was an avid runner his entire life, including many marathons.

Harold is survived by his loving wife Mary Tremain; children: Timothy (Chris) Tremain of Edmore, Ann (Samuel) Smith of Vienna, VA, David (Debbie) Tremain of Mt. Pleasant, Stephen (Evi) Tremain of Columbus, NJ, and Pamela (Brad) Koch of Grand Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Knoll of North Branch; sister-in-law Anne Tremain of Smith, AL; and brother-in-law Henry Waidler of Lake Isabella.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers Donald, Otis, and Kenneth Tremain; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wesley and Connie Waidler.
