Obituary for Helen Eileen Ball (Gibson)

BALL, HELEN EILEEN, age 94, of Flushing, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at home with her family.

Funeral Services for Helen will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Darrell Bailey officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the luncheon, interment will take place at Two Rivers Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Helen was born in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of J.W. and Nina (Whitman) Gibson. She married Leonard Ball on October 24, 1953. Leonard preceded her in death in 1968. During her working career she was with Flaugher’s Plumbing and LaCross Glass in Mt. Pleasant and retired in 1998 from Eagle Boys Village in Hersey, Michigan. She enjoyed spending summer weekends with her dad at Lost Lake and time at Grindstone City with her son and grandchildren. She also spent many, many hours with her granddaughter doing family history. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching her great-grandchildren grow.

Helen is survived by her children Jerry (Marsha) Lemon of Flushing, Jim (Patty) Ball of Mt. Pleasant, Jack Lemon; grandchildren Steve Lemon, Tracie Lemon, Jason Ball, J.L. Ball, Dustin Lemon, Dawn Gilkes, Renee Laney, Christopher Lemon; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; half-brother Wayne Gibson; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son Larry (Kim) Lemon; daughter-in-law Donna Lemon; brothers and sisters Jim (Helen) Gibson, Donna (Ray) Woolever, Betty (Al) Gilbert, Bud (Chick) Gibson, Lloyd Gibson; and special cousin Norma Karcher.
