Obituary for Helen Mae Reid

Helen Mae Reid of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, age 83, passed away February 6, 2022.

Helen was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was born on June 10, 1938 and grew up in Clare, Michigan with her two sisters. Helen married the love of her life, Dan Reid, on June 25,1960 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Clare, Michigan.

In their many years of marriage, they enjoyed dancing, car rides, going to county fairs and attending mass at Sacred Heart Parish where she was a very devout catholic. Having travelled for 50+ years to equipment auctions with Dan, Helen was very highly respected in the farm equipment community, as the first words auctioneers, dealers, and farmers would greet Dan with was “How is Helen?”

Helen’s greatest joy and first priority was always her family. She loved having a full house and enjoyed taking photos and making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a green thumb and enjoyed collectable dolls. She was always there to support her grandchildren. Helen was a beautiful, compassionate, and loving woman who will be missed by many.

Helen is survived by her husband, Dan Reid; her sister, Elaine Densmore; her children, Cindy Greiner (Jim), Susan Weatherhead (Larry), Daniel Reid (Deborah), Rebecca Lowe (Kelly), David Reid (Angela), and Duane Reid (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Cecilia Grant (Michael), Megan Straus, Zachary Straus (Ashley), Ciara Lowe, Nicholas Lowe, Anna Reid, Delaney Reid, Emma Reid, Lindsey Reid, Samantha Reid, Jacob Reid, and Ella Reid; and her great-grandchildren Luke Straus, Orion Grant, Brittany Straus, Leo Grant, and Olivia Straus. She is also survived by neighbor and friend, Tim Bollman.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Thelma Letson, her daughter, Deborah Reid; her sister, Winifred Owens; her brother-in-laws, Elmer J Reid and Forest Densmore; and her grandson, Luke P. Straus.
