Obituary for Ivan Douglas Foster

FOSTER, IVAN DOUGLAS, age 67, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home.

A Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel & Cremation Service.

Ivan was born in Alma, Michigan on March 10, 1949 to James Odie and Martha M. (Scott) Foster. He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1967. Ivan was a proud Vietnam Vet, serving in the US Army. He married Margie Rhode in Isabella County on July 21, 1998. Ivan retired from Steering Gear after many years. After his retirement, Ivan worked for Soaring Eagle Casino as a slot attendant for 8 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and also a member of the Harrison American Legion. Ivan loved woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, and talking to people about the Lord.

Ivan is survived by his wife Margie Foster of Mt. Pleasant; son Ivan (Shannon) Foster Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Nora (David) Colthorp of Breckenridge; step-children Kevin (Michelle) Bendele of Riverdale, Cheri (Michelle) Marshall-Six of Farwell, Wade (Anita) Davis of Shepherd, Devin (Rosie) Davis of Greenville, and Tim (Holly) Hendricks of Bowling Green, OH; 5 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters Sandy and Nadine.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason, and 2 brothers.
