Obituary for Jack Warner Mitchell
Mitchell, Jack Warner, age 87, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at New Hope Assisted Living.
A Graveside Service will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Rick Nelson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church, 5282 E. Airport Road, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan 48858. Envelopes are also available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
Jack was born on April 27, 1935, in Columbus, OH, the son of Mark Mitchell and Corinne (Butterworth) Mitchell. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Canton, OH and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University. He also graduated from Northwest Baptist Seminary. Jack proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a supply purchaser for Allis Chalmers for many years. Jack enjoyed bowling, golfing, and marathon racing. He attended the First Baptist Church and most recently Maranatha Baptist Church, both in Mt. Pleasant. Missions were very important to Jack, contributing to several missionaries throughout the years.
Jack is survived by his children Jeanine (Rick) Nelson of Griffith, IN, Becky Burkhart of Clyde, OH, and Mark Mitchell of Lomita, CA; grandchildren J.R. (Rebekah) Nelson, Connie (Don) Biddinger, Jonathan, Nicholas, Danielle Burkhart; great-grandchildren Matthew, Todd, and Aubrie Nelson; Ashley, Aviella, and Alana Biddinger; sisters Karen (Bob) Shumaker and Debbie (Dan) Winters.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ron and Steve; and sister Marcia.
