Obituary for James Alvin Bohlmann

James Alvin Bohlmann, age 78, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant, with his wife Carolyn by his side.

Per Jim's wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial Services for Jim will be held at Leaton United Methodist Church, 6890 East Beal City Road, Mt. Pleasant on Sunday, October 30th, 2022, at 12pm with Reverend Joseph Beavan officiating. A Luncheon prepared following the memorial service for Jim. The family will receive friends from 11am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leaton United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Jim was born on November 30, 1943, in Watseka, Illinois, son of Alvin and Elfriede (Peters) Bohlmann. He was the second of seven children. Jim helped on the family farm until graduating high school and then a year of vocational agricultural school. He then enlisted in the US Army in 1964 at Fort Carson, Colorado and served until May of 1970. Jim worked for Schlumberger in the oil fields for a few years and then worked for Delfield Company and retired after 18 years. He married Carolyn (Peters-Zeneberg) Bohlmann on February 1, 1997, at Leaton United Methodist Church. Jim was a member of the Leaton United Methodist Church. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease before 2008. Jim enjoyed woodworking, and received notoriety for his accomplishments in applying woodworking towards his physical therapy progress. He loved camping and spending time in nature. While his children attended school in Shepherd, Jim coached basketball and baseball.

James is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bohlmann; children of his first marriage, Tamara (James) Tolley, Matthew (Shauna) Bohlmann; step-child, Renee (Rex Anderson) Richardson; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Okamoto, Judy (David) Creek, Sharon (Paul) Haughey; brothers, Frederick (Mary Bohlmann, Rodney (Karen) Bohlmann; brother-in-law Wayne Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Young; brother-in-law, Kazu Okamoto.
