Obituary for James Edward Recker

Recker, James Edward, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 in Ann Arbor surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services for Jim will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Biedenbender officiating. A Luncheon will take place after the service in Reflections Reception Center. Interment will follow in Lincoln Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 17 from 4 – 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County 4H Horse Leaders. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Jim was born on August 20, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the son of Joseph and Caroline (Busch) Recker. He married Phyllis Recker on November 2, 1963 in Vestaburg. Jim devoted his life to dairy and crop farming. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and the Mt. Pleasant Eagles Club. He enjoyed his riding his trike motorcycle, hunting, fishing, vacationing in Florida and spending time at Coldwater Lake with his family.

Jim is survived by his children, Darsha (Paul) Cole of Mt. Pleasant, Vonda (Gary) Kushmaul of Mt. Pleasant, Rachelle “Shelly” (James) Short of Shepherd and Jim Recker (Tammy Pierce) of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Derrick (Trisha) Cole, Candace Cole, Deena Cole, Tyler Recker, Travis Moose, Savanah (Dustin) Baning, Tanner Moose, and Stayse Dingman; great-grandchildren, Mason Koutz, Madison Koutz, Alyssa Cole, and Nolan Cole, sisters, Elizabeth (Leo) Trussell of Mt. Pleasant, Delores Morse of Saginaw, and Loretta Humphrey of St. Louis, special friend, Kathy Moore and dog, Muffy.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, parents and nephew, Bill Trussell
