Obituary for Jerome Levasseur
Jerome LeVasseur 98 of Gladwin, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 16, 2021. Jerome was born April 19, 1922 in Beaver Township, Bay County, Michigan, the son of Edmund and Eva (Fournier) LeVasseur. Mr. LeVasseur enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his county during World War II. After serving his country and honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Jerome was united in marriage to Ms. Wilhelmina Badour in 1947. Mrs. LeVasseur preceded Jerome in 1968. On April 12, 1969 in Bay City, Michigan, Jerome was united in marriage to Ms. Maureen Mae Wenglikowski. After forty years of marriage, Mrs. LeVasseur preceded Jerome in death on January 13, 2010.
Mr. LeVasseur had resided in Gladwin County since 1973, moving from Auburn, Michigan. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4760 of Auburn, Michigan for many years. Jerome was past owner and operator of LeVasseur Builders for many years, retiring in 2005 after eighty-three years of dedicated service to many homeowners of Northern Michigan. When Jerome wasn’t working or raising his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and Sunday brunches with family. Jerome will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a man with a strong work ethic, honesty, integrity and a great love for his country and the Marine Corps.
Surviving Jerome are his seven children: Tim LeVasseur and wife Melanie of Gladwin, Annette Murray of Gladwin, Alan LeVasseur of Merritt Island, Florida, Cindy Greer and husband Jon of Gladwin, Randy LeVasseur and wife Dana of Titusville, Florida Lynn Boylen and husband Buddy of Gladwin and Todd LeVasseur and wife Amy of Harrison, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and his beloved cat, Shadow. Jerome was preceded in death by family members and his loving cat, Shadow. Jerome was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Celebration of Life and Military Honors for Mr. LeVasseur will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., outside pavilion of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie#3292, 832 North M-18, Gladwin, Michigan 48624.
