Obituary for Jill Ann LaChance

LACHANCE, JILL ANN, passed away peacefully at Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant on December 17, 2021 with family by her side.

Jill was born to the late Norbert “Bud” and Marjorie “Marge” (Roberts) Hages on May 22, 1951 and grew up in Essexville, Michigan. She graduated from Essexville Garber High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

She married Patrick LaChance on July 27, 1984 in Mt. Pleasant and from that union they welcomed a daughter, Samantha in 1989. Jill was an avid reader and lifelong learner. She enjoyed gardening and was known throughout the neighborhood for her beautiful flowers. Jill cared for many cherished pets throughout her lifetime. She will be dearly missed by friends and family.

Jill was a beloved teacher for more than 25 years at Sacred Heart Academy and left a lasting impact on many former students and colleagues. Teaching was Jill’s passion and she loved to pass her knowledge on to her family, friends and students.

Left to cherish Jill’s memory is her husband of 37 years, Patrick LaChance; daughter, Samantha “Sam” LaChance; brother, Norbert “Tony”, Jr. (Jean) Hages; brother-in-law, Les Morley; nephews, Brad (Gwen) Neering and Brian Hages; niece, Kelly Neering and many additional family members and friends.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Marge Hages; father-in-law, William LaChance; mother-in-law, Dolores “Dee” LaChance; sister, Lynne Morley and nephew, Michael Hages.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Mid-Michigan Home Care and Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant for the outstanding care provided to Jill.

Cremation will take place at Daisy Hill Crematory and a private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Mt. Pleasant. A celebration of life with family and friends will take place in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to a local hospice organization of their choice or Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant.
