Obituary for Jimmy "Jim" DeFrance
Jimmy “Jim” DeFrance, age 83, of Weidman, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral Services for Jim will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (2175 South Coldwater Rd. Mt. Pleasant, MI) on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11 am, with Pastor Rick Tuttle Officiating. Internment will follow in Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 am until the start of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Jim was born on October 18, 1940, in Detroit, son of the late Leon and Evelyn (Cooke) DeFrance. He married Phillis Ann Lindenfelser in December of 1959 in Detroit. Jim worked and retired from Evart Products as a Millwright. He was a member of the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. Jim enjoyed working on cars, taking to the road on his Harley, and shooting guns.
Jim is survived by his children, Jackie (Ken) Peters, Jack (Denise) DeFrance, Jeff (Lori) DeFrance, Chris DeFrance; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Ann Gersky; many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Phillis DeFrance in 2012, daughter-in-law; Frances DeFrance, twin sister; Janet Jensen.
